Handsome Jack, also known as Pretty Jack before his physical transformation, is a primary antagonist in the Borderlands video game franchise.
His first appearance was as a non-playable character in Borderlands, initially presented as the President of the Hyperion Corporation, seeking to bring order to Pandora by force. He oversees the Vault Hunters' efforts to open the Vault, claiming to want to protect Pandora from the creature within.
However, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! portrays his rise to power and his transformation into the ruthless dictator seen in Borderlands. The game shows his descent into villainy due to betrayals and the corrupting influence of the Vault's power. He becomes obsessed with control and eliminates anyone he deems a threat to his vision.
